The Rosenheim project was established 12 years ago to develop close cooperation among the farmers in the Chiemgau region of Bavaria. The aim of this project was to develop sustainable agricultural management practices in accordance with natural cycles in order to enhance economic benefits along with ecological improvement of the soil and environment. Hence the
activation and healing of soils for improving fodder quality, animal health and quality of the farm products was to be achieved. Due to the versatility and easy adoption of Effective Microorganisms (EM), this project included this technology for sustaining farming within these complex processes of natural farming. This enabled farmers to produce EM based products such as eggs, milk and cheese, which were directly sold to consumers, thus enhancing the farm incomes in the Chiemgau region. The presentation highlights the success achieved in EM based dairy farming in the region where EM has been used effectively in many operations such the production of feed for livestock through to the manufacture of cheese in an EM dairy.
