Born May 12, 1953, Dick van der Maat studied horticulture at the Horticulture School in his home town Boskoop. In 1970 he started to collect Japanese Maples. He made this him main line of business when in 1973 he took over the nursery from his father. In 1998 contaminated water from a nearyby polder threatened to distroy his nursery. He found a way out of this dilemma with the help of EM.
Dick van der Maat is married and has two daughters.
In 1998 my Japanese maple nursery was completely contaminated with heavy metals due to illegal dumping off van zinc, cadmium, quick silver and lead into the drainage-canal from which we engage our irrigating water. The land was completely use less, all the plants where burned even the lower layers in the ground where damaged. My supplier of fertilizer Charles Marchant had contacts white EM Agriton BV, who is the producer off EM-1, and told me that maybe EM could solve my problem. The presentation gives a good impression of how EM was used to build the nursery back up again and how we still use it to have a healthy nursery with healthy plants.
